From their studio hidden in the hills near San Luis Obispo CA, Jonathan and Paula Newell create beautiful custom sculptural and architectural designs for home owners, designers, architectural firms, and corporations. JN Design is a licensed contractor dedicated to producing and installing top quality work honorably, professionally, and on time.

Jonathan's sculptural work can be found in homes, restaurants, hotels, and retail stores across America. Much of Jonathan's own design work draws inspiration from the graceful forms found under water. His work started in Jewelry casting and design. As his work continues to diversify, attention to quality, balance, function, and finish have remained.
Paula's attention to detail and capturing life-likeness and mood come in part from studying under sculpting teachers including Louis Goldstein, forensic sculptor Philippe Faraut and accomplished doll artist Pat Moulton. She is especially gifted at producing lifelike bust sculptures of children. She also applies her talents in the culinary world creating special event cakes. This luxurious stone bathtub is wrapped by a bronze sea serpent. The serpent head is the faucet. The mid section, a step to enter and exit, and the tail houses the overflow drain. It was designed to have a waterproof infra-red touch switch to activate and regulate water flow. Oh, the fun we can have!
This 1600 lb. bronze fountain was placed by helicopter onto clients Cliffside patio near Carmel, CA.
The stairway railings of this Shell beach home are interwoven with elegantly forged climbing rose vines.
Our products page (shopping cart coming soon), will feature many of the custom designs that JN design has produced over the years. We have many lighting and railing components available in bronze and aluminum for other artists to be able to install.
Complete control of blown glass shapes and colors allows for wonderful flexibility in lighting design. The piece shown above is part of an elaborate light fixture in an Avila estate home. It is an oak branch clad with copper and bronze multiple glass flowers and pods illuminate the client's kitchen island.
The pewter counter top shown here has an edge profile inspired by a picture that the client brought to us from a magazine. Counter and bar tops can be customized to your exact specifications in copper, resin, stone, wood, stainless steel, etc.
